What is the Qrystal Travel Clinic?

Qrystal Pharmacy is a registered Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre and a fully-stocked private travel clinic. We provide pre-travel consultations, vaccinations, antimalarials, and certificates for over 100 destinations — from short city breaks to long expedition travel.

Each consultation starts with a destination-specific risk assessment, including endemic disease risks, accommodation type, food and water safety, malaria prophylaxis, and your medical history. We dispense vaccines and any antimalarial prescriptions on the same visit, and issue your International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) when Yellow Fever is administered.

You don't need to be registered with us. You don't need a GP referral. You just need to know roughly where you're going and when.

Who can use the Travel Clinic?

Anyone travelling abroad. We see adults and children, and we can advise on travel for those with chronic conditions, during pregnancy, or after recent surgery.

  • Adults and children (most vaccines available from 12 months)
  • Pregnant patients (with destination-specific safety review)
  • Patients with chronic conditions, immunosuppression, or on medications
  • Last-minute travellers — we'll do what's possible in the time available

You're not eligible if:

  • Travellers under 9 months may need to wait for some vaccines
  • Some live vaccines (Yellow Fever, MMR) are contraindicated during pregnancy

Travel clinic — frequently asked questions

How far in advance should I book?

Ideally 6-8 weeks before travel for any vaccine that needs multiple doses (e.g. Hepatitis B, rabies). For shorter notice, we can still help — most travellers can be fully covered with 1-2 weeks' lead time, and we'll prioritise the highest-risk protections if time is tight.

How much does it cost?

Costs depend on the vaccines and antimalarials you need. The pre-travel consultation itself is fixed; vaccines and medications are charged individually. Call us with your destination for a tailored quote.

Will I get a Yellow Fever certificate?

Yes. Qrystal Pharmacy is a registered Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre, and we issue the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) at the time of vaccination. Carry it with your passport.

Can children use the travel clinic?

Yes. Most travel vaccines are licensed from 12 months of age. Some are licensed earlier or later — our pharmacist will advise based on your child's age and destination.

What if I'm taking other medications?

Bring a list of your current medications. Some vaccines and antimalarials interact with prescription medicines, and our pharmacist will check for any concerns before recommending a regimen.

Can I get antimalarials without seeing a clinician?

No. Antimalarials are prescription-only and require a clinical consultation to ensure they're appropriate for your destination, your medical history, and any concurrent medications.

Do you take walk-ins or only appointments?

Both. Walk-ins are welcome subject to vaccine stock — we recommend calling ahead, especially for less-common vaccines, to confirm availability.

What if I have a reaction after vaccination?

Most reactions are mild (sore arm, low-grade fever) and resolve in 24-48 hours. If you have any concerns, call us or contact NHS 111. For severe reactions during travel, seek local medical care.
