Bermondsey Street Residents: Your Local Healthcare Hub at Borough High Street

A quiet London residential street lined with brick buildings

Bermondsey Street has become one of south London's most characterful neighbourhoods — a run of independent shops, cafés, galleries, and Georgian terraces just east of Borough. It's a proper residential community, and like any community it needs healthcare that's dependable, close, and easy to fit around ordinary life.

Qrystal Pharmacy on Borough High Street is a short walk away, and we'd like to be your regular pharmacy. Here's what that looks like in practice — and how to set it up in a couple of minutes.

Where we are

We're at 301 Borough High Street, London SE1 1JH, a walkable distance west of the Bermondsey Street area.

  • On foot from Bermondsey Street: head west toward Borough High Street — a comfortable walk of roughly 10–15 minutes depending on where you start.
  • London Bridge (Northern & Jubilee lines, National Rail): about 8 minutes' walk from us, and a natural route if you're coming back from work.
  • Borough Underground (Northern line): about 2 minutes from our door.
  • Buses: frequent routes stop on Borough High Street, seconds away.

Registering with us takes two minutes

The single most useful thing a local resident can do is nominate us as your pharmacy through the Electronic Prescription Service. Once you have, every prescription your GP issues — including repeats — comes to us automatically. No paper slips, no detour to the surgery.

There are three ways to do it:

  1. Tell us. Pop in or call 020 7403 2237 and we'll set it up.
  2. Tell your GP surgery. Ask reception to nominate Qrystal Pharmacy.
  3. Use the NHS App. You can set or change your nominated pharmacy yourself in a few taps.

You're never locked in — change it whenever you like.

Free local delivery

If you'd rather not make the walk each month — because of work, mobility, caring responsibilities, or simply a full diary — we deliver free of charge to addresses across Bermondsey, Borough, and the wider SE1 area. It's a particular help for residents managing regular repeat prescriptions or long-term conditions.

Just ask when you nominate us, or call and we'll arrange it.

Services on your doorstep

Being a local hub means more than dispensing. For Bermondsey Street residents we offer:

  • Pharmacy First — same-day NHS assessment and treatment for seven common conditions (sinusitis, sore throat, earache, infected insect bites, impetigo, shingles, and uncomplicated UTIs), with no GP appointment needed.
  • New Medicine Service — free pharmacist support when you start a medicine for a long-term condition.
  • Seasonal vaccinations, including the NHS flu vaccine ahead of winter.
  • Private blood tests and health checks for keeping an eye on things like blood pressure and cholesterol.
  • Travel clinic for vaccinations and advice before a trip abroad.

Health support for the long term

The real value of a local pharmacy shows over time. When we know you and your medicines, we can spot interactions, answer questions quickly, help you keep on top of repeat cycles, and flag when something's worth raising with your GP. For anyone managing a long-term condition — or caring for someone who is — that continuity matters more than any single appointment.

If you'd like to talk through how we can support you or a family member, just come in. A conversation with a pharmacist is free and doesn't need booking.

When you need more than a pharmacy

For everyday health we're here. For emergencies — chest pain, breathing difficulty, serious injury, or rapidly worsening symptoms — call 999 or seek emergency care. For urgent advice when we're closed, NHS 111 is available 24/7.
