Collecting an NHS prescription used to mean a paper slip, a trip to the GP, and a separate trip to the pharmacy. For most people in the London Bridge and Borough area, it no longer has to. With the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS), your prescriptions can be sent straight to our pharmacy at 301 Borough High Street — ready to collect, or delivered to you.
This guide covers how to set it up, when to collect, and what your delivery options are.
How NHS prescriptions reach us
When your GP issues a prescription, it can be sent electronically to a pharmacy you've chosen in advance — your "nominated" pharmacy. Once Qrystal Pharmacy is your nomination, every prescription your GP issues arrives with us automatically. There's no paper to carry and no need to ask the surgery to print anything.
This applies to repeat prescriptions for long-term conditions and to one-off acute prescriptions alike.
Setting up EPS nomination
There are three easy ways to nominate us:
- Tell us directly. Pop in to 301 Borough High Street, or call 020 7403 2237, and we'll set the nomination up for you. This is usually the quickest route.
- Tell your GP surgery. Ask reception to set Qrystal Pharmacy as your nominated pharmacy.
- Use the NHS App. In the NHS App, you can set or change your nominated pharmacy yourself in a few taps.
You can change or cancel your nomination at any time, and you're never locked in. If you split your time between addresses, you can switch nomination whenever it suits you. To make this even smoother for the future, you can read more about how the Electronic Prescription Service works on our service page.
Collection times
Once a prescription has been sent to us, we'll have it ready during our normal opening hours:
- Monday to Friday: 9:00 – 18:30
- Saturday: 9:00 – 14:00
- Sunday: Closed
Most prescriptions are ready the same day they arrive. For repeat medicines, it's worth allowing a little time after your GP approves the request — a quick call lets us confirm yours is ready before you make the trip, which is handy if you're fitting it around a commute through London Bridge.
Finding us
We're at 301 Borough High Street, London SE1 1JH, on the main road between Borough Market and Borough Underground station.
- Borough Underground (Northern line): about 2 minutes' walk.
- London Bridge station (Northern & Jubilee lines, National Rail): about 8 minutes' walk — easy to reach on your way to or from work, Guy's Hospital, or The Shard.
- Buses: many routes stop along Borough High Street, seconds from our door.
For commuters, that means you can collect on the way home without going out of your way.
Delivery options
If getting to the pharmacy is difficult — because of work hours, mobility, caring responsibilities, or simply a packed schedule — we can bring your medicines to you. Free local delivery is available to addresses in the Borough, London Bridge, and wider SE1 area.
Delivery is especially useful for:
- Patients with limited mobility or long-term conditions
- Busy professionals working near London Bridge, More London, or Tooley Street
- Anyone managing regular repeat prescriptions who'd rather not make the trip each month
To arrange delivery, just ask us when you nominate, or call 020 7403 2237 and we'll set it up.
Managing repeat prescriptions
For long-term medicines, the combination of EPS nomination and our repeat management takes most of the effort out of staying topped up. We can keep track of your repeat cycle and, where appropriate, help coordinate your reorders so you're not caught short.
If you've recently started a new long-term medicine, the free New Medicine Service gives you two pharmacist consultations to make sure it's working well and to answer any questions — no GP referral needed.
